Amid the fierce clashes taking place in southern Lebanese villages between the Israeli army and Hezbollah elements, particularly following the incursion in the villages of Bint Jbeil yesterday, the Israeli army announced today the killing of four of its soldiers in southern Lebanon.

A statement by the Israeli army mentioned the names of three soldiers from the same battalion who “fell during the fighting” and announced the death of a fourth soldier without disclosing his name.

It also added that “a soldier was seriously injured, while a reserve soldier sustained minor injuries.”

Later, the Israeli army announced that the number of injured soldiers had risen to six.

For its part, Israeli Channel 12 reported that “the soldiers were killed during close-range clashes with Hezbollah,” adding that “the Israeli army used the air force, tanks, and artillery to target militants who attacked Israeli forces.”

Channel 12 also quoted a source saying that “militants fired anti-armor missiles while trying to evacuate the dead and wounded soldiers.”

The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz reported that the number of soldiers killed in southern Lebanon since the start of the war has risen to 10.
