ISIS cell dismantled by Syrian security forces in Damascus suburbs

Syria’s Interior Ministry announced on Sunday that security forces had dismantled a terrorist cell affiliated with the Islamic State group (ISIS) in the town of Daraya.

 

Brigadier General Ahmad Al-Dalati, head of Internal Security in the Damascus Countryside governorate, stated: "Specialized units of the internal security units, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Directorate, carried out a tightly planned security operation targeting an ISIS hideout in Daraya. The operation followed extensive surveillance, intelligence gathering, and continuous monitoring of the cell’s movements."

He added: "The operation was conducted with the highest levels of planning and precision, fully adhering to precautionary measures to ensure civilian safety. The operation reflects the level of coordination between security and intelligence units and their capability to dismantle terrorist cells."


In a separate statement, the Syrian Interior Ministry stated: "Various weapons, different munitions, and funds prepared for financing terrorist activities were seized by the internal security leadership in Rural Damascus Province, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Directorate, during a security operation aimed at dismantling a terrorist cell affiliated with the ISIS terrorist organization in the city of Daraya, within the province's countryside."
