Tensions escalate as Iran links Lebanon front to wider regional ceasefire
Tehran halts indirect talks with Washington and warns of broader regional escalation, including potential action in key maritime chokepoints, amid rising confrontations involving Lebanon and Gaza.
Events are accelerating on the Lebanon front following Israeli threats to target the southern suburbs of Beirut. The Tasnim news agency reported that the Iranian negotiating team has stopped exchanging messages with the United States through mediators due to the attacks on Lebanon.
Tasnim also said that no talks will be held until Iran’s demands are met, namely a halt to Israeli military operations in Lebanon and Gaza.
The Iranian agency revealed that the “axis of resistance” and Iran have set an agenda to fully close the Strait of Hormuz and activate other fronts, including the Bab el Mandeb Strait.

This position comes after a warning from the Iranian Armed Forces to the “Zionist entity” that continued crimes in Lebanon will not be something they can tolerate.
In a statement, they said that the “Zionist entity exploited the ceasefire opportunity to commit crimes in Lebanon.”
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi noted that the “ceasefire between Iran and the United States is a comprehensive ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon.”
He said that “any violation of the ceasefire on any front is considered a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts,” adding that “the United States and Israel bear responsibility for the consequences of any violation of the ceasefire.”
